THE MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP LANDS IN INDIANAPOLIS WHERE BLUSENS-STX RIDERS ARRIVE WITH THE AMBITION OF IMPROVING THE RESULTS OF BRNO AND REPEATING THE PODIUM IN 125cc
Indianapolis, 26th August 2010. Two weeks ago, the MotoGP World Championship went back tot he action at the Brno Circuit and this weekend it is the turn of one of the most famous circuits in the world: the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the riders of every category will make the experienced American audience enjoy themselves, even more now that it is the centenary of the “Brickyard”.
Yonny Hernández and Mashel Al Naimi hope they will do better than they did in the Check Republic last time and match their expectations. The Colombian rider aims to score some points and the Qatari aspires to be part of the top 25, which would be his best result of the season. In 125cc, Tito Rabat thinks he will improve the result he did last year, when he was 20th, and the previous one when he could not finish the race. The rider from Alella (Barcelona) gets to this tenth event of the championship with a goal: keep up with the good results he has been getting since Sachsenring (4th) and the podium of two weeks ago in Brno. This is the third time in a row that a Grand Prix takes place at Indianapolis and its oval track has been modified for this event of the MotoGP World Championship, keeping only the tribune straight.
68 YONNY HERNÁNDEZ: “After the difficult weekend we had 15 days ago in Brno, I hope everything will work out a lot better and that we will be able to fight for a position in the points. The American circuit is very famous, but I do not have any knowledge about it. My goal is, of course, to do the best setting I can to my BQR-Moto2 in order to classify well and start with options on Sunday, so that I can mark some points.”
95 MASHEL AL NAIMI: “I am truly excited to be racing in such a celebrated circuit. I have never raced in the United States, but I am sure it will be a fantastic experience that will help me keep growing. The first half of the championship was pretty positive, except for the fact that I had to get surgery and miss two races, and the second half started very well in the Check Republic, a race where I got my third best result of the year and felt great with my BQR-Moto2. I hope this famous circuit will fit me as well as the one of Brno and that I will be able to battle for a place in the top 25, which would be the next step of my evolution. In order to do this we will have to work as hard as we have been working until now and I will also have to be really centred.”
12 TITO RABAT: “Indianapolis is a different race and one of the most special of the calendar because of its atmosphere. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a mythical circuit and I think we all are incredibly happy to race here. This is an oval circuit which combines a very long straight with slow curves, and it is pretty potholed, so it is very important to do the best setting we can to the bike and fast; my Aprilia needs a good acceleration. I did not finish the race in 2008 and last year it was complicated too because I classified badly and could not win positions in the race. This was an awful result, far from our goal for this season. Anyways, I am sure we will do better this time, because I am extremely motivated. The fourth place in Germany and the podium of the Check Republic have been useful to go up a few places in the championship standing and now I think I have options to finish the World Championship in the top five.”
