RABAT EQUALS HIS BEST RESULT OF THE SEASON BEING 7TH IN SEPANG, WHILE SCOTT REDDING LEAVES THE RACE
Sepang, 25th October 2009. The weather has gotten a bit better in the circuit of Sepang for the 125cc race in which the Catalan rider Tito Rabat has made the best out of his second row starting position, racing with the leader group from the very beginning. Tito has kept himself with a numerous first group that only Simón and Smith escaped. Unfortunately, 4 laps before the end he has made a mistake that has made him lose the first group, so finally he has ended right behind them. He has crossed the line in the 7th position. For Scott Redding the race has been a Via Crucis. After the problems suffered the whole weekend, he trusted the good feelings to come back during the race in order to catch up some positions, but this was far from becoming the truth. From the start, Redding has been losing positions until 9 laps before the end of the competition when he has decided to leave.
12 TITO RABAT (7º. 43'06.030, +15.114): “I have to thank the team because together we managed to do a great setting of the bike and it worked really well during the race. Well enough to equal my best result of the season, and in a circuit that felt really complicated for me. Since Misano we have been fighting in the first group, the problem is that at the end we do not get to obtain a great result. However, we are very capable of racing against the best ones. About the race, I started well, but at the end I made a mistake. In a bend I lost control of the front wheel and, although I helped falling, I lost track. Then we were very close to the end, so I focused in keeping that position.”
45 SCOTT REDDING (Leave): “I am really disappointed since we had many handicaps during the weekend. However, I started with the intention of giving the 100% and catching up. Nevertheless, from the beginning I was not capable of doing that and after a couple of laps I was even further behind than from the place where I started. My motorbike was not fast enough and I saw myself fighting for the 20th position. In my opinion, I must battle to be in the top ten in every race. So when I realized I was racing for the 20th place against motorbikes that are supposed to be inferior to mine, I decided to quit.”
